Kolo Toure opened up about his delight in joining Liverpool as the "perfect" opportunity to make a comeback after falling out of favour at Manchester City.
The defensive stalwart, who was part of Arsenal's 'Invincibles' squad, left London for Manchester in a blockbuster £14million move in 2009, helping the team secure the 2011/12 Premier League title.
In his last two years at City, Toure found it hard to cement his place in Roberto Mancini's side, competing against the likes of Joleon Lescott and Matija Nastasic.
He made only 14 league appearances in his final season.
With his contract expiring in the summer of 2013 and offers on the table from overseas clubs, Toure chose to stay in the Premier League where he had been playing since 2002, this time with Liverpool.
During a 2015 interview with LFCTV's '60 Minutes With...', Toure reflected on his switch to Merseyside and explained his eagerness to remain in England.
To be able to play at Arsenal, City and now Liverpool was amazing and I thank God again.
"I could have maybe gone to Turkey or other places but when Brendan told me to come to Liverpool I was so happy, because I knew I could come here and do something and help this great football club.
"He wants the players to work and to work really hard, to run really, really hard.
The first season was really, really difficult for most of the players – including me – because every session was high intensity.
"I really enjoyed the way he managed the players individually.
